April Newsletter

Hello friends!

We hope this note finds you well!

Despite the icy weather here in Toronto, Dreamwalker Dance Company is bursting forth with a number of Spring happenings. This season we reconnect with TDSBCreates to share two arts residency programs with four Grade Six classes at Toronto District School Board's Beverly Heights MS and Dunlace PS.

Also, with generous support from Canada Council for the Arts, we are launching The Welcome Project with partners Working Women Community Centre, St. Stephen's Community House, City of Toronto and DanceWorks, planting the seeds for a grand-scale, communal, public movement event celebrating Toronto Newcomer Day at Nathan Phillips Square in May 2019. Stay tuned for more information.

In creation, New Planes, takes Andrea, Brendan and collaborator designer/architect Michael Fohring out of the studio and into the unique setting of soon-to-be Sara restaurant with Brent McClenahan, to further explore how our bodies can shape the spaces we occupy and how current 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies can be applied to habitable designs.

On April 26, Andrea and Brendan rejoin writer Tanis Rideout, and an ensemble of celebrated songwriters to perform at the 2018 Swim Drink Fish Gala and Art Auction, an unforgettable evening in praise of fine art, inspiring performances, and gourmet food and drink. Swim Drink Fish is an independent Canadian charity working for a day when every person in our watershed can safely touch the water, when the water is pure enough to drink, and when the lake is clean and wild enough that you could toss in a line anywhere and pull out a fish.

Brendan and Andrea will perform excerpts from 2 memorable duets created in collaboration with Swim Drink Fish ambassador and former Waterkeeper board member Gord Downie. With over 400 attendees annually, the Swim Drink Fish Gala is one of the biggest fund-raising parties of the

year. Every dollar raised helps to ensure a future where all Canadians can experience swimmable, drinkable, fishable waters.

April closes with a performance of Krishna's Mouth by Andrea with cellist Anne Bourne at the 2018 Peggy Baker Salon. The evening will feature exclusive performances from Peggy Baker and her company of dancers and musicians in the intimate and beautiful setting at the Canadian Film Centre.

And just announced, the 2018 Volcano Conservatory, taking place July 23 - 29, 2018 at The Theatre Centre.

A warm welcome to our new board members - Mary Keogh, Randall Okita and Tom Robles, and newly elected President, Kasia Gladki! Sending best wishes to all.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
