Dual Light - Tickets Going Fast

OCTOBER 19 - 21 8:00PM Harbourfront Centre Theatre 231 Queens Quay West, Toronto Buy Tickets here or by phone at (416) 973-4000

Dual Light invites us into the space between things familiar and situations unknown. It is here, in the between, that the performers explore new ways of supporting each other, moving together step by step through their own vulnerability. It is a moving ‘concept album’ so to speak, within shifting environments of light, sound, story and memory. Dual Light is conceived, written, and directed by Dreamwalker Artistic Director Andrea Nann, in creation with dance artists and fellow performers, Brendan Wyatt, Yuichiro Inoue, Kristy Kennedy, and designers Simon Rossiter (lighting and scenography), Cheryl Lalonde (costume and scenography), Joshua Van Tassel(sound), AJ Morra (production and stage management), James Kendal (scenographic performer), and dramaturge Sarah Chase.

Dual Light will be presented October 19 – 21 at the Harbourfront Centre Theatre as part of DanceWorks 40th anniversary season. This work has benefitted greatly from a long incubation process made possible with institutional support from Soulpepper and Young Centre for the Performing Arts, Canada Council for the Arts and Toronto Dance Theatre. Catch a sneak peek of Dual Light as part of the Canadian Opera Company's Free Concert Series in the Richard Bradshaw Amphitheatre Wednesday October 11 t 12:00pm - 1:00pm.

GYROKINESIS® is a methodology derived from key principles of Qigong, Yoga, and Dance. Comprised of a series of precise undulating movements (circles, spirals, curves, arches) combined with a breathing structure, this unique approach systematically and gently works and opens the entire body, stimulating the internal organs, improving muscle flexibility and articulation of joints and bones, reinforcing the neuromuscular system, oxygenating the blood, and cultivating wellbeing through the harmonization of body systems and energy channels, resulting in increased strength, balance, and freedom of movement. GYROKINESIS® expands, reinvigorates and re-educates the body to move with fluidity, relaxation, and power. As a teacher / guide, Andrea accesses 29 years of experience as a professional dance artist and strives to bring precision and depth to this practice by combining creativity and personal experience within the existing structure and methodology.
