EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
Andrea Nann Dreamwalker Dance Company is committed to facilitating enriched arts learning and experiences for youth and the general public by providing opportunities to work and learn with exceptional artists. Dreamwalker Dance Company has a history of offering exemplary educational outreach programming. Through workshops, seminars and/or classes, Artistic Director Andrea Nann successfully engages students and participants of all ages and backgrounds in artistic explorations that foster creativity, imagination and emotional expressiveness. Elements of drama, literature, music and visual arts are woven into the creative process and final product, as the participants give physical form to their thoughts and feelings. In her workshops each participant feels respected for his/her individuality and unique artistic interpretations and creations.
Andrea Nann is a certified Artist in Education having completed the York University and the Ontario Arts Council certification program in 2006. Prior to becoming an Artist in Education, Ms. Nann was a guest teacher for the Toronto District School Board for which she developed and implemented age specific material for workshops with students in both elementary and secondary schools. Her knowledge of the dance and drama curriculum is valuable to both students and teachers. Ms. Nann addresses social and political issues through dance/movement with young students with care and sensitivity. By drawing on issues of personal and social significance, the artistic work becomes highly relevant and meaningful to the students. Ms. Nann is also highly skilled at eliciting responses from students. Her process involves the students as thinkers, evaluators, interpreters and creators. Ms. Nann’s carefully designed and sequential process inevitably leads to very fine work.
